Community Inside and Outside of the Classroom is a panel discussion with TLH Faculty Fellows Joseph Cáceres (Graduate Center); Sharon Jordan (Lehman); Lynn Lu (CUNY Law); and Sarah Pollack (College of Staten Island).

As part of our Transformative Learning in the Humanities participation, each of us has sought to explore ways of deepening a sense of community within our classrooms to empower students to share ideas, work together and learn and grow through ungraded, communal exercises. Each of us has connected our class content to a larger discussion of community outside the classroom using written prompts and questions to have students reflect on the meaning and value of community, while building it within the classroom.

This panel discussion (via Zoom) will share our experiences at four CUNY campuses and explore how each class has endeavored to inspire community-building in new ways, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Accessibility: ASL interpretation and live CART transcription will be provided.
